Preamble

A father with physical disability and his son with visual impairment organized a number of persons with disabilities in a group in the area and nearby areas of Hazaribagh in Dhaka district. They used to get together in a school field under the open sky and share their lives, experiences, good moments, discrimination, etc. Inspired by the proverb 'Unity is Strength,' they made the decision to start an organization. The organization was established in 2006.

There are many industries in Hazaribagh, but there are no employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Neighboring areas, i.e., Lalbagh and Kmamrangirchar, are in the same situation; people with disabilities are not participating in any social or development activities. The children with disabilities do not get admitted into schools. All these facts encourage HDDF to initiate different activities.

HDDF is an organization for people with all types of disabilities, including physical, visual, intellectual, hearing, and speech impairments. Its activities are focused on the rights of people with disabilities, such as human rights, social rights, political rights, etc.
